           We recently worked with a business doing just over $1M a year that had hit that point. Nothing was completely wrong, but nothing was really working smoothly either.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Financials were late.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
            Reconciliations were taking too long.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
            And there wasn’t a clear picture of what was actually going on month to month.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           What they didn’t need was more manual bookkeeping — they needed a better setup.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Starting with the foundation

           The first thing we looked at was where everything was flowing.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           In a lot of cases, businesses are using good tools — they’re just not connected properly.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           We centralized everything into QuickBooks Online so there was one clean source of truth. Bank feeds were connected properly, and we removed as many manual workarounds as possible.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That alone cleaned up a lot of the noise.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Getting rid of manual receipt entry
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           One of the biggest time drains was still entering supplier invoices and receipts.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           We brought in Dext to handle that side. Instead of manually entering bills, invoices are now captured automatically and pushed through to the books.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s a small change on paper, but it saves a surprising amount of time — and cuts down on errors.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Fixing how payments were being handled
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Before, payments were being made as they came up, with no real structure.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           We set up Plooto so everything runs through an approval flow first.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Now:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

            Bills are reviewed before being paid
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Payments are scheduled in batches
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Suppliers get proper remittance automatically
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s a lot more controlled, and cash flow is easier to manage.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Connecting the operational side
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This is where a lot of businesses struggle.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           You might have a POS system, payroll, inventory tools — but if they don’t tie into accounting properly, you end up with gaps.
          &#xD;

           The goal isn’t more software — it’s making sure everything actually talks to each other.

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Tightening up the monthly process
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Once everything was connected, the monthly close became a lot more straightforward.

           Instead of scrambling at month-end:

            Accounts are kept up to date throughout the month

            Reconciliations are quicker
